Morning Dew
by TRAVIS TAPLEY
steps taken into green blades
that hold the tears of the
moons descent into the morn
the sun shining their silver praise
I wipe them upon my feet
feel the sorrow in each one
as the warmth of the day
melts them into my soul
barefoot shadows tickle my toes
as I greet the morning birds
in this song of another breath
cheerful in the morning dew
feel the drip from each leaf
as I walk under the trees
that shade my youthful dreams
they give me their wisdom
I rest under fingers of
velvet oak touches
exchange knowledge with
this wooden friend
I know like the moisture that
fades in the sun of a new day
so will the trees that listened
and on their whispering winds
carried my dreams into adulthood
